The Old Stables project involved the remodelling and extension of  a characterful building deep in the heart of the Northumberland National Park. The original building dates from around the late 18th/ early 19th Century, and was once the stables to a much grander country house used as a hunting lodge which sadly no longer exists. The project converts the existing structure whilst also adding a new wing; this contemporary zinc clad element creates a modern counterpoint to complement the historic elements of the building; quite an achievement given the strict planning context of the national park.
