Field Barn consists of a historic stone element with the addition of a pitched roof volume; this provides the required accommodation whilst allowing the historic parts of the building to remain legible.

The open, rural setting required a sensitive approach, and so the design incorporates and reinterprets elements of the existing historic agricultural barn and surrounding buildings. The metal roof and timber cladding create a lightness to the feel of the new element, and existing openings are reused in the older parts of the barn to clebrate and preserve the character of the barn.
