The project involved a new house in the open countryside, with the site looking north towards the Corbridge conservation area.

This was a challenging context in planning terms, but also a great opportunity to consider design in a beautiful rural setting. The design is a contemporary interpretation of the immediate context, working with the steeply sloping site and maximising views over the valley whilst protecting privacy and remaining largely hidden from view.

The scheme represents a sophisticated and progressive addition to the rural architecture of the area, and the end result is a credit to the commitment and effort of the design team and the client, demonstrating the importance of creativity in a sensitive and important landscape.
