The project involved providing a garden room in the picturesque village of Kirkwhelpington in Northumberland.

The design proposed to remodel and refurbish parts of the ground floor accommodation, and also to use the position and volume of an ageing glasshouse to create an additional living space. The approach needed to be focused on quality and sensitivity to the Grade II listed building, and worked with a sophisticated palette of zinc, glass and local sandstone.

The site was a challenging but lovely environment in which to work, and our usual careful and sensitive approach to the planning and heritage issues were of the highest importance. The design is a subtle connection between house and garden and through our usual full service in technical design and works on site, the project was successfully delivered on time and on budget. Cliffside represents another very happy client and a project which we are very proud of.
