This project involves the remodelling of an existing single storey house in Northumberland, including a small extension. We have really enjoyed working with the clients to develop a strategy to ‘put right’ the house, which has evolved picemeal over time, the result of which were some slightly compromised spaces and a lack of clarity in terms of how the building is used.
We took a step back and reappraised how things could work; with some simple strategies the design has created a series of lovely spaces, including more open plan living areas, a more private bedroom area, a courtyard garden and making a better connection to the back garden and the views over the fields beyond.
