Another successfully completed scheme; Hazeledene lies in the Middle of the conservation area in Hexham on a lovely green site surrounded by mature planting. The new design does justice to this setting by replacing a tired bungalow with a crisply detailed new two storey home. The use of render at ground floor level references the replaced buildings finish, while the upper level facades use timber to create a softer aesthetic which sits in harmony with the mature natural planting on the site. The design is informal with playful elevational compositions; internally these openings frame and control views in some places whilst connecting to the gardens in key spaces such as the bedroom, kitchen and snug. The project also considers those often neglected spaces such as hallways and landings by bringing light deep into the building with thoughtful design. The house was completed on time and on budget (as all our projects are!), and we are very pleased to share these new photos of it looking lovely in the autumn sun.
